About Charles Schumann. Charles Schumann, born in 1941 in the Upper Palatinate, real name Karl Georg Schumann. After visiting a Jesuit boarding school he graduated from the Hotel Management School in Switzerland and worked in Italy and France, where he was first called Charles. Back in Germany, he studied politics and journalism in Munich. In addition, he earned his money in various bars as THE man for the cocktails. In 1982 he opened in Maximilianstrasse 36, the Schumann's American Bar, a meeting place that made him famous. Alongside he created the now world famous cocktails such as the swimming pool, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2008, published legendary bar books such as the 1984 international bestseller American Bar and short stories and episodes about a bar environment. For over 10 years bar legend Charles Schumann, the Schumann's Bar operates at courtyard garden and Schumann's cocktail lounge in the MaffeistraàŸe behind the cathedral in Munich.
